First and foremost, I want to make your house warmer during the winter and cooler in the summer. Having grown up in Kansas I am very familiar with cold, leaky homes and have had many experiences living in them. I have worked for 20 years with 'lived in' homes, and on many aspects of Kansas-made residential houses. I know the ins and outs of where air leaks occur and how to fix them. When performing the diagnostic test in, on and around your home we will discuss what problems of comfort you want to address and how the house works as a system. I enjoy searching for inefficiencies, air leaks etc.
Secondly, as fuel and electricity rise in cost, as they most likely will, I want to help you ensure that you’ll be better able to control those price increases with greater efficiency. An energy audit is a great investment in your long term financial future.
This summer I took a solar hot water workshop at Solar Energy International in Carbondale, Colorado. During the workshop we studied how to size a house system to a solar hot water heating system. At this time I realized that you can’t really properly size a system without evaluating the existing efficiencies (AND inefficiencies!) of the home/small business, and that most homes are inefficient. Likewise, you can’t properly improve the energy efficiency of a home unless you first know the house usage and efficiency. That is what led me to training in this new industry. Coupled with 20 years of experience in whole exterior house sealing and installing insulation, windows and attic fans, the energy audit puts it all together in a ‘big picture’ for the home owner.
